ddx3216 / hd24 MTC issues

Hi,
I'm trying to setup my ddx and hd24 to use the dynamic automation of the ddx.

When I think I've got all the settings right, I press play on the hd24 and the ddx says "Error!" on the autom screens.

What should the settings be for both units to get the ddx to sync to the hd24? I use no external clock source. Just a midi cable running "out" of the hd24 and "in" to the ddx.

I'm not familiar with the DDX but I do have an HD24. I do know that in a digital transfer, the recieving device (in your case, the DDX) must slave to the incoming digital stream so I assume that you set the DDX to be the slave and the HD24 set to its internal clock. If you just have a midi cable as your only connection between the two devices, that won't work. Do you have lightpipe cables hooked up?

MTC reqires a MIDI cable TO and FROM the machine. You need BOTH cables to run it.
 
why would there be a need for a second midi cable when the ddx isn't transmitting any thing back to the hd24? Or is it??

OK, I got a second midi cable and nothing has changed. I believe I know what my problem is. Master Controller #3 or 4 (whichever one controls the fps rate) doesn't work on those menu screens. It works for dialing in parameters in other screens but, to change the timecode rate... it doesn't even flicker.

Can this be corrected via firmware update??? I have v. 1.0. Is there a newer version?

Anybody with this mixer/recorder setup... I'd love some helpful hints or advice.

Lastly, anybody got the phone number to Behringer Support?

Yeah I use the DDX. It works. I don't know if updating the software might be of help, it might be a busted rotary encoder. But, indeed there has been lots of updates already. Inlcuiding one that gives the ddx full surround capabilities (5.1).
Try updating and see if that works.
