dbx 286a vs ART tubepac?

I'm looking for a mic preamp for recording purposes in my amateur home set-up. I'm only recording with a tascam 424 mkIII portastudio so I'm looking more for functionality over high end quality. I really need something to warm up the vocals and acoustic guitar tracks. THe ART tubepac and dbx 286a have both caught my eye as possible solutions. However, they are both very different designs so I wanted some opinions on the pros and cons of both units.

I use the studio projects vtb-1 pre amp, amazing, warm vocals, I also use the dbx 286a or the symetrix 528e

i've had a dbx 286a on long term loan since 2001 and have to say i've not used it since 2005.

my old Aphex 107 and the pres on my even older ('94) MS1202 have seen far more use.
