Hey I'm new here, just looking for some help with this compressor...

I just picked it up and I'm having a problem with it, not sure if it's me or not... but when I run out of my preamp I hit the compressor and then into my soundcard... this is where the problem starts... I'm only getting a mono(one speaker) sound... when I just run the preamp I'm getting a stereo sound... I'm using all balanced cables to connect and I just don't know what the deal is.

I guess I should metion that I also have ran it through an aux and that has no problem running in stereo... just doesn't like anything else... anyways... thanks in advance and I hope that I'm not just stupid and over looking something...

What is plugged into the preamp? What kind of preamp is it?

The mic that is plugged in at the moment is a MXL 991, not a great mic I know, but I am just learning... and the preamp is a presonus tubepre. I'm pretty sure that I have everything plugged in right though...

Not sure if this is your problem, but there is a 'stereo link' button on the 266xl, make sure it is not pressed in.

thanks for the idea, but I wish it were that simple...

I've tried so many different things now and it just doesn't make any sense to me. I've ran different cables... I've tried different preamps... I tried either channel and they both seem to only run into one speaker... I checked my sonar program and it's not set for mono or anything... any other ideas?

ehm, not sure if this will help,

but when u record vocals, its mono, one channel,
sometimes this can come only trough one speaker if you are recording
it on a Stereo track...

so make sure everything is mono...from mic to speakers or headphones...

otherwise i wouldn't know what it might be...
how are you monitoring?
can you describe your signal path?

mic - preamp input -->preamp insert to DBX compressor
-->preamp output to mixing desc or soundcard...

where's the compressor connected?
