Day Aside, Recording a self-production EP

Hey guys i bought myself a home recording setup about 6 months ago. Ive just been teaching myself and getting lots of advice from different sources. My band Day Aside have just released our first single on youtube that I self-produced and wrote. (I play the guitar and vocals). I was just wondering if you guys could have a listen to it and give me some feedback on it? We are going to be releasing a couple more songs and I just wanted some advice on what I can do better on the next tracks.

That's pretty cool. This kind of thread would get more replies in the MP3 Mixing Clinic forum though.
 
I have to own up - this isn't my fav. genre & the signature elements of Milo tin bass drum & deep throat singing leave me giggling almost every time.

What did you use to record?
Bass isn't terribly clear - needs some definition as it has blended into the guitars to the extent that I can't actually hear it in many places.
You'll need to do some EQ carving to give it some space.
the bass drum sounds fine when it's not double timing.
The biggest problem isn't in the recording or mix - it's the song. It sounds like yet another DM song. The attempts at dynamics are laudible but they are interludes before returning to more nondescript D<.
Recording & mix wise you've done pretty well.
Oh, try posting somewhere other than utub - or at least use the HD features.
Better still upload a 320 MP3.
Soundclick does OK streamers & Reverbnation better streamers.
 
Sorry, I did make an effort to listen. But this Cookie Monster stuff makes me laugh my ass off as soon as I hear the first bark. Generally, I think your mix is OK.
 
Guitars sound good. Mix sounds pretty well balanced overall. I'm an old fart but I liked the snippet of 'regular' vocal at .54 - you should do more like that
