DAW Users With ADD

A couple of weeks ago a salesman was walking through the shop and twisted his ankle on a piece of wood and he took two days off
Well sure. It probably hurt like hell when he put his feet up on the desk. You can't work under those conditions.

Football

Keep moving. Nothing to see here. :( :( :(

Guitars
I had a guitar my cousin was going to buy but backed out of....

so I decided to put new pickups in it.
One of these in the bridge position...

and one of these at the neck...

Also for kicks I'm changing the knobs.:D

I'm stoked,it'll be like getting a new guitar.

Plus I picked up a used DS-1 for $20 while I was there,I'm a sucker for a cheap stomp box.:o

I have an old sweatshirt that reads, "I Root For Two Teams. The Giants and Whoever Is Playing Dallas."

Looks like you're up this week. :)

Me boys at Rutgers are making a little late season noise. They're 7-2, and their two losses both came against top ten teams.

Unfortunately their schedule might be slightly easier than some Pop Warner teams. They only played three decent teams, so from that standpoint they're 1-2. However, if they can run out - which would include a win over W. Va. - they will probably get a pretty decent bowl game.

Football
It's been a season of twists and turns,I'm betting the best is yet to come.

Guitar
Well it's done,but I can't have it until my birthday,I guess that's my present(along with some socks).

Doctor
I have to get an MRI and talk to a specialist. My shoulder feels better, but it's tired.

But wait there's more....
I may have to work the day after:mad::mad::mad:.

Sort of like your personality. ;) ;)
At least I'm not from New Jersey.:p

Guitar
It turns out I'll get my hands on it before my birthday, seeing as my wife never picked it up I'll be picking it up today.Getting new pickups is like getting a new guitar, whoo hoo!

Where's Paul?
Must've got his new computer.

Giants are playing, too. :)
Of course, if they lose tomorrow, it could make Thursday's game an afterthought. :(

How do you usually cook it?
Cooking a whole turkey is the easiest thing in the world. Essentially you just put in the oven for a few hours, baste it occasionally, and take it out when it's done.

I usually cut the breast and the legs apart and roast them, slice the meat and boil the scraps to make the gravy the night before so I just have to heat it up on turkey day. That whole, whole turkey carved at the table deal is over rated.Football, even when it's bad,is still good.

It's not required that you carve it at the table. ;)

Let it cool for 20-25 minutes before carving it. Meanwhile use the drippings in the roasting pan to make the gravy.

The best part, for me, is the whole house smells like turkey all day long. Much better than smelling your Uncle Tony. :)

Where does this sudden burst of culinary know how come from?I reckon you would have a hard time microwaving a hot dog without instructions.

I'm going to cook it in one of those roasting bags,I did that a few years ago and it turned out pretty good.

Very happy
Yes I am.
I got my guitar back and put the new pickups through the paces and I'm super happy.I bought the guitar on clearance for $200,got the pickups, new knobs, setup with new strings for $200.So a total cost of $400 for a guitar I'm really happy with.
I'm considering replacing the pickups on another guitar now......

Go Packers!
Which Packers team will show up today?

Gear Acquisition

I bought two music stands from Musician;s Friend for my mentally challenged band mates who can't seem to remember song chords from one week to the next.

$10 each. Cheap. :)

An old guy was in Home Depot the other day pushing his cart around when he collided with a young guy pushing his cart.

He said to the young guy, "Sorry about that. I'm looking for my wife and I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."

The young guy says, "That's OK. It's a coincidence. I'm looking for my wife, too. I can't find her and I'm getting a little desperate.

The old guy said, "Well, maybe we can help each other. What does your wife look like?"

The young guy says, "Well, she is 24 years old, tall, with blond hair, green eyes, long legs, big boobs, and she's wearing tight white shorts, a halter top and no bra. What does your wife look
like?"

The old guy said, "Doesn't matter --- let's look for yours."

Most old guys are helpful like that!

Black Friday

Today
I'm making meatballs and maybe spaetzels if I'm motivated.

I think I've finally figured out what Paul really does for a living... and why we haven't heard from him lately.

Outside England's Bristol Zoo there is a parking lot for 150 cars and 8 buses. For 25 years, its parking fees were managed by a very pleasant attendant. The fees were 1 pound for cars ($1.40), 5 pounds for buses (about $7).

Then, one day, after 25 solid years of never missing a day of work, he just didn't show up; so the Zoo Management called the City Council and asked it to send them another parking agent.

The Council did some research and replied that the parking lot was the Zoo's own responsibility. The Zoo advised the Council that the attendant was a City employee.. The City Council responded that the lot attendant had never been on the City payroll.

Meanwhile, sitting in his villa somewhere on the coast of Spain or France or Italy ...is a man who'd apparently had a ticket machine installed completely on his own and then had simply begun to show up every day, commencing to collect and keep the parking fees, estimated at about $560 per day -- for 25 years.

Assuming 7 days a week, this amounts to just over $7 million dollars ...... and no one even knows his name.

Nah,it couldn't have been and here's why......

25 solid years of never missing a day of work
replace the years with days and I'll buy it.

Software
I spent $29 on a new plug....

http://www.uaudio.com/products/software/ibp/index.html

I got $50 worth of vouchers and I could have got a de-esser for free, but I rather zoom in on a sibilant and envelope it than use a de-esser.

I got a voucher from Musicians friend and used that on some X-mas gifts for my kids, they also let me tha advantage of a % discount that was going on too, that along with free shipping made it worthwhile.

All on all I'm looking at these sales as basically getting to buy things you don't really need or want, they just make it so cheap you feel like you have too.:o:D

The weather
It's going to be cold, winter is here.

LOL. Yeah, I should have caught that myself.

Gear Aquisition
I bought two sheet music stands last week. :o :o

Actually they're for two other bozos in our group who can't seem to remember the chords or words to songs. $10 ea. from Musician's Friend. Not bad.

I'd still like to talk the boys into springing for an LCD monitor for our DAW. Maybe a 22" widescreen. However, since we haven't recorded anything in more than a year, it would be a hard sell. :( :(

Finances
My IRA is actually within 5% of where it was before the world imploded. And that's without making any additional contributions to it. Not too bad - even though it still amounts to a -2.5%/annual return. Not quite what I signed up for.

The best investment advice I can give you guys is to watch what I do, and then do exactly the opposite. ;)

On the bright side, I get my very first Social Security check this month. So pretty soon, Guy, you'll be able to look at the FICA line on your pay stub and know that $.0000000000000000000001 of the deduction is going to support yours truly.

LOL. Yeah, I should have caught that myself.

They're also good for learning new songs. When we played out about half of our music was from cheat sheets, and it seems as though you develop a dependence on them if you don't commit them to memory.

I'm at an unhealthy stage in my life where I obsess about my retirement funds, partly due to the idiocy that surrounds me I've been witness too.

I've got two rules....

1.Don't work for the bank.
2.Don't spend as much as you make.

Pretty simple really.

You got that right. Our lead singer has been singing the same songs for 10 or 15 years, and he STILL doesn't know the words. I've always felt it was because he reads them off a sheet, and then without the sheet he gets nervous and forgets them.

The funny thing is that since I've heard them so much, I know all the lyrics by memory. :D

2.Don't spend as much as you make.
Very good advice. Other than a car and a house, I have never borrowed money for anything. Credit cards are paid when the bill arrives, and I've never had a loan besides the aforementioned mortgage and car loans.

As of this moment, however, both my car and my house are paid for.

My daughter, otoh, had thousands of dollars in credit card bills. When I asked her how and why, I got answers like "it was Christmas and I didn't have any money for presents." I told her, if you don't have any money for presents, then you don't buy any. How hard is that? However, I feel that went on deaf ears. :(

I also paid for her college education, and then after she graduated I found out she had taken out a student loan. When I asked why, she said she used the money to pay off her credit cards because it was a lower interest rate. I guess that made a little sense, but, of course, after she had paid the cards off, she went out and ran them back up again.
