In one ear and out the other with you huh?

Sorry Kasey, there are some rules, the big one being YOU MIX WITH MONITORS, NOT WITH HEADPHONES. I dont care how avant garde or experimental you want to be, fine.

Mixing with headphones is like banging your head against a wall to see if it will hurt, you always find out the hard way. Ultimately, the choice is yours, I'm just trying to help.

"please tell me this was sarcastic. if not.... i dont know, shut up. get out of my thread. yea. my thread."

Learn to translate your joking to text better, this seemed pretty serious to me.

Like i said, some pretty good sounding albums have been made using nothing but headphones. it can be done. people have done it.

and who would call a thread their's, telling someone else to get out, and be serious about it?

I'm not saying it can't be done, though it's straight up retarded to mix with headphones over monitors if you have the option. It's simply not the norm....and not very smart.

bwa-ha-ha... good one! You'd make a good comic!!

In the real world:

I tried it last nite. I "mixed" a lil thing I am working on in headphones. Not seriously, just messin with volumes and stuff. When I switched to the monitors ( nice pair of Tannoys), it was a mess. I then "mixed" with the monitors and switched to the cans. Sounded fine.

I should have saved a wav file of each attempt for real world results. My ears get fatigued with the phones, even though I listen to most of my music with em.
When I finally got monitors I *hated* them. They showed me all the flaws in my mixes Then again, that's EXACTLY what they are supposed to do.

Agreed. Monitors shouldnt flatter, they should tell you exactly whats really going on. After mixing on my nice monitors, I realized just how bad I am at home recording. :o

You hear the joke about the kid that thought he could mix on 10 pairs of headphones.......Oh wait a minute, he wasn't joking.
