Damn annoying hiss!

I have been recording for a while but have just moved across to digital.
I have noticed this damn annoying hiss , like tape hiss, that although it is very low volume and quite in the backround, its really driving me crazy!
I do gate my signals through the aux send/ret. and my source signals push the red its still there.
What else could it be?

Are you sure it isn't in your monitoring chain? Is it at the track level or at the mix level?

its at track level.
I use 4 drum mics and 2 overheads, DI the bass and guit and sm58 for vox.
Individually tracks are super silent

By the way i record everthing by overdubbing so its not bleed or electrical hiss

It must be a plugin, your soundcard, or something in the monitor chain.
