leaving my 20th century analog equipment behind and entering the digital realm...i've narrowed my choices down to the d16 and vf16...i'm leaning toward the d16 because of the modeling option...does REMS modeling work?..how does it
sound??

I don't know what REMS modeling is, but I do use the d16. The amp models are Ok; some better than others. I usually use a Johnson J-station for direct guitar to the d16. I do like the reverbs, multiband limiters, stereo chorus, flangers, etc in the d16. The d16 also has a bass multi effect that I use quite often for direct bass recording.

I don't know much about the Fostex unit, but I am very happy with the d16. Remember, however, you will need an external scsi cdr since you will eventually need a way to backup the track data.

hey market thanx for the reply...

....but i'm mic'ing up my my amp...i'm more interested in the mic models...i don't have a "proper" condenser mic for vox and acoustics...just 57's and 58's...can i get a decent vocal using one of the models???

I didnt really like either of the units you mentioned. The d16 has those stupid stereo tracks - so it looks more like a 12 track than 16.

The akai DPS16 looks pretty nice though, or if you can spring for it, the yamaha 16 track. just my 2 cents./
