Cymbal Wash in my Overheads

It's so funny you said that about the hotrods. A majority of the recordings that I do like I was using hotrods. The only problem with that is that the toms sound like a bag of garbage you left outside in 98 degree weather would smell. If there is any comparison to be drawn there. . .

Anyways, I worked on a solo drum track a little bit more and it seems as though I could be acting a little over critical. That being said what is a good site to be able to upload some tunes so you guys could really tell me how bad I suck. I would love to upload a couple drum trials and see what kind of feedback I would get. :cool:
 
Cymbal pack? hhhmmmm.....I have somewhat of an issue with these packs. As with any cymbal when trying them out, it would be a good idea to have a friend tag along to help you out. I'll tap and crash on a few cymbals which I think sound good and then step back while my friend taps or crashes on them. HUGE difference! What may sound great up close will sound like crap at a distance most times. Same with cymbal packs......take them out and try them. It's your hard earned money and you want what you pay for. I agree with dinty "You can't fuck with cymbals, either they sound right or don't. Most don't. I am totally against using anything like tape on cymbals." I have a 7 piece set of Sabian HH series and a 7 piece set of Paiste Signature series (not including 5 pair of hi hats) which i have collected/traded/given (hand me downs to the nephew) over the years and am now satisfied with what I have. Let your ears decide if the cymbal is right for you as it's your sound that you have in your head that you want to produce and capture from that cymbal. Another thing to try like some of the guys have mentioned, use different mic position methods. There is not one mic position method set in stone so experiment. Hope you achieve success.
