I have been searching endlessly for a store that configures pc's for recording. I would like someone to please e-mail or tell me a few sites where i can be informed on products and compare prices. I want to build a computer from scratch and use it solely for recording. My e-mail is mayo_naze_2000@yahoo.com

You only need to know one site: http://www.pricewatch.com

This site is like, the central hub for thousands of online retailers to post their prices of their products. You go through and find what you want, and they list in order from cheapest to most expensive.

Definitely use pricewatch.com . I just ordered my Pentium III 700MHz Slot 1 processor ($150), heatsink and fan ($12), and 128Meg of memory ($40) by searching with pricewatch. Finally building my DAW.

Build your own

Hey Mayo,

check out http://www.prorec.com/ and click on the story titled
"Roll Your Own 2000".
Build your own set-up specifically for audio recording.
Very tech, very informative, and it's an all-round good site.

Cheers,

Where are you located? I did exactly what you're doing (and I know nothing about computers). I asked my stepdaughter's boy friend what I needed and he had one put together with a fast processor, 128 megabytes, 20 gig and enough ports for my CD burner and other (so far imaginary) addons for 1100. I added a monitor and a sound card/software and a tascam deluxe burner and now have about 2200 in the whole deal. It rocks, as the younger generation says. The advantage was that I could walk into the store, discuss what was in it (as much as I am capable of discussing what's inside a computer) and walk out with a computer and a guarantee.

There's also http://www.neocomputers.com

They'll build one for you or you can buy components to build your own. If you build your own, definitely go check out pricewatch! I've never dealt with neocomputers but they seem to be reputable.
