Does anyone have this? I was wondering if the card that it comes with could be used for normal computer stuff, like playing mp3 and games and such. In other words, could I have this be my only sound card? Thanks

Joe

Soundcard

Hey Joe... youdon´tsaywhich soundcard youhave...hence no one responds to your queiry. Probably you got the SBLive card. If that´s so you can indeed use the card for games...the card is actually made with games in mind rather than music.mp3 Also should function depending on what computer zou have...PC or Mac? Good luck and next time tell us more about what setup zou got...

hey joe,
i just got the cubasis project pack on fri,
sure you can use it for normal comp stuff except there isnt any place to plug a controllor into for games
i think the sound card was made by RME for cubasis especially for the project pack

hope my 2 cents worth helped :)

The ProjectPack card works very well for normal windows audio tasks (save for MIDI and joystick functions). I have both my ProjectPack card and my Yamaha XG card installed on my machine and have yet to run into any problems.

The ProjectPack was a pretty sweet deal for only $99!

The card included in the Cubasis Project Pack is mfg. by EGO-SYS. They do not market the product under their name & do not support it.

Since the Project Card does not utilize the Windows mixer application, I am not sure you can use it for everyday apps. (which do not allow the selection of an output device). I use mine in conjunction with a Yamaha YMF754 for everyday use and it seems to work fine.

Be aware, though, that the drivers that came with the card are the only ones you will ever get. Steinberg does not intend to support it in the future. It does not work in Windows 2000 with the existing drivers and I have not been able to get one iota of tech support or questions answered regarding it.

Actually, (M) is right. You prolly cant use it for normal windows stuff... my bad!

It does play well with other cards, though.

Riddle me this: how often do you see two guys from the same city posting replies in the same thread only 7 minutes apart? With identical audio card setups, no less?

The Suspects...It didn't even snap that you were from Houston. Me = asleep ;)

You're also using an XG card with it - another coincidence...scary.

The coincidence ends when I tell you I paid $280 for mine (about a year ago). What a frickin ripoff! It's probably worth $99 - no more. I have been very disappointed with the lack of support. Every other piece of hardware I have works with Windows 2000.

I've been able to get some pretty decent recordings with this card, though. I can actually play real-time through VST/DX effects & record (I use an Audiophile 2496 for that).

Cool stuff anyway. Maybe I'll see you guys around soon.

Later,
(M)
