Cubase4 vs. Studio4???

I have used Wavelab 6 for quite some time now and enjoy its features and operation. To date, the only things I have done 'in the box' are final edits in stereo format. (24 track HD==>Console L/R outs==>Audigy 2ZS==>Wavelab6) I am looking at moving to Cubase and doing more single track edits in the box. (Drums in particular) My question is what is the difference between Cubase4 and Cubase Studio? Is there +$300 worth of value add? Can I incorporate either into the system that I now have? Basicaly studio 4 is a slimmed down version. It doesn't do surround mixing. Doesn't have the control room feature 47 included plugins instead of 66 in the full version, 128 physical ins & outs - 256 of the full version.

Studio 4 works for me. I don't see the justification on the price hike for the extra features that I either don't need of can work around.

+10 for LemonTree. Thanks. The control room feature might be nice but not necessary with 90% of what I do here. I will still record to anolog tape or the HDR standalone. It is after I record that I want to be able to drop tracks into Cubase rather than just a stereo rough mix into Wavelab6. It appears as though the Studio version will suit me well. I am ordering Studio 4 next week unless someone chimes in with a great reason to spend the extra $300.

Studio 4 user here. I don't do surround and I don't think I'm missing out on the control room thing. I think control room would be bulky and confusing to me so I think I'm better off without it. Let's face it, most of us don't use half of the stuff Studio 4 has.:D
 
I noticed he was running a console so no need for the control room stuff. Even without it it's easy to set up send channels and route them out your card to a headphone amp for your own monitor mixes.

I think for the money Studio 4 is a great little package. Everything it does do, it does really well. I've been using it for 10 months and haven't come across anything I can't do with it yet.
 
does studio come with all the extra sound sets??? dont know if that's an issue for you...
 
On my last update of Studio I downloaded new sounds for halion 1. Is that what you mean?
 
ive used cubase for years, and studio 4 rocks hard! Even LE had a lot of good features but i needed to upgrade my software to use my presonus faderport and when i added another firepod for 16 ins!
