Hi

I used to use SX for years and now have Cubase AI4 which came bundled with some hardware and was going to upgrade to Cubase 5, however at $600 it's not just a no-brainer purchase, ya know?

Bascially I'm wondering if it's worth buying SX or Cubase 4 (to save some $$$ - which I know really isnt THAT much...), but I am concerned about their longevity (in terms of future upgrades from Steinberg etc)

Live instruments-wise, I mainly record vocals and guitars, but use a lot of VSTs so require a lot of these.

So what do you think I should look at getting? Hold off and spend the dough on the upgrade to Cubase 5 or just buy an older version and save alittle bit?

PS what does anyone know about buying Cubase off ebay?? I have found some Cubase 5 deals for $300, this can't be right?!?

because for some reason I wasn't aware of it! haha, thanks for your reply, at a quick glance its all i am after

I bought Cubase SX3 with an upgrade to Cubase 4 off of eBay used this year, I think it was $200. I need Logical Edit and it isn't included with the cheaper versions.

Truthfully if it would work with Mac OS X I would have been fine with Cubase VST 24 that I bought in 1999... to me none of the improvements made since then mean really anything, the whole constant upgrade thing really strikes me like a bunch of bullshit.

The used version I bought had never been installed and installing it and me being the new owner, all that went glitch free.

I bought the producer pack in 1999, it was a great peice of software. Since starting over I went with Cubase 5.5 64bit, which is a fantastic setup. The amount of native content sold me on it.
