Cubase SX3/Nuendo 3 external fx question...

Say I've got 10 audio tracks in Nuendo/Cubase 3...I want to use my Distressors on all of them, but I've only got two Distressors.

I've got my Distressors set as external fx so I can use them as inserts. Now, I want to either create a new track with the insert applied or have the original track be processed with the insert.

Is there a way to do this within Nuendo/Cubase (I assume there is). I know I can do a real time export with the track solo'd and then re-import the wave file, but that seems to be quite time consuming and obtrusive...there's got to be a faster way.

Any ideas?

FWIW, my interface is a Yamaha i88x.

sorry I cant help, just curious as to what a disteressor does?
 
Distressors are versatile, high-end compressors. Distortion compressor.

Just do a search on any pro sound forum.
 
I may be out to lunch, but can't you just patch the output of the distressor to another track and just record it? I only have SL so I haven't played w/ the delay compensation.
 
It's going to be a long process either way. There are only two ways to do it.
1. mixdown with that channel soloed and import the wave back in.
2. play the track into the distressor and record the output of the distressor.

They will both take the same amount of time, because the mixdown will be in real time when you are using external FX.

There is no way around it, you can't do anything outside the computer any quicker than real time. You also can't have 5 different things going through the same compressor and end up with 5 separate things coming out of it. This is one of the cool things about plugins, you only buy one, but you can have it on a lot of channels at the same time.
 
As far as I can tell, if you have two distressors, there is no other way to do it other than in real time since the distressors are not purely software algorithms. There is an option in Cubase to automatically import the mixed track to a new track so you will not have to actually manually create the new ones.
