how do you assign each audio track to record from one of the 8 anolog outputs from the motu 828 firewire?

i am useing mono tracks and i want to connect them individualy to all of the 8 tracks off the motu seperatly but simontaniously.

i would think you could just click on the track someware/somehow and assign the desired motu output line to that track,

but its not that easy i take it.

i have went through the cubase manual but it doesnt shed any light on this for me.

i set up the busses to point to the mono tracks that i created but when i click the tiny down arrow in the bottem left of the channel settings to change to the bus that is linked to the motu track i want to record from, it seems to work but then i hit the "e" to go back to the mixer and the audio levels dont respond accordingly to the mics i bussed.

can someone please help me i am so stummped

please....

thanks

when you go into the audio system dialog, are all 8 of your inputs showing up?

if they are, make sure 8 of your vst inputs are all active

once the inputs are active you should be able to assign any of your channels to any of the inputs.

ok i understand and they all are active but how do you assign them exactly?

first, a disclaimer - this is for using SX 1 (not 2). not sure how many things have changed between the versions...

in the mixer window, each channel will have it's own strip. expand the view to 'wide'. at the top of each strip there is a small 'box' (above the panning and level displays) with the assigned VST input channel. Click on this and all of your VST inputs should show up in a pick list (eg. 1L, 1R, 2L, 2R, etc.). Choose what MOTU input channel you want to feed into that track and you're done!

If you assign 8 channels - one to each of the MOTU inputs - you should be able to record 8 simultaneous tracks from the MOTU. Conversely, if you assign 8 buses - one to each of the MOTU outs, and then assign each of the 8 channels to one of the 8 buses - you should be able to push out 8 individual channels from the MOTU outs.

hope this helps!!
