when i hit a key on the edirol, i will see an input level go up and down accordingly, thus, the software DOES recognize midi interaction.

However, when i load a VST, I can't link the midi action to the VST for
sound. When I use my mouse to click on the graphical keys, it will play fine.

Reason was plug and play with no problems, i don't know why this can't be.

Thanks!

Load a VST? What kind of VST? A VSTi? A VST effect?

Let's start with your platform, OS, and general computer specs. Then specify the software you are attempting to use the Edirol with. Then maybe someone can help...

Is Midi-Thru activated ?
And the Midi-out Channel (by every Midi track) set as the Edirol plugin ?

thats exactlly it....whatever midi track in cubase you are playing/recording on...you have to set the output on that track to the vst that you intend it to go to. (and even after that is set, if the record enable/monitor button is not pushed....you are not going to hear anything). hope this all helps, it's pretty simple and the manual helps out a bit.
