I bought an Maudio PC interface and received a full version of Cubase SE along with it (ebay purchase).

Anyway, I recorded my band (16 tracks) into my HD24 at my studio, then used my new Fireport 1394 to put those channels into the Cubase program to mixdown and play around with the tunes at home.

All seems fine except when I am done, I want to save my mix as a Wav or MP3 file. The only option Cubase SE is allowing me to have, when saving my work is only .cpr extension file so I can open it later again in Cubase.

How do I save my final mixdown in a Wav or MP3 format??

Can it be done???...Anyone know??

Thanks and peace

File --> Export --> Audio Mixdown

Don't think Cubase is licenced for MP3 formatting though. Google 'Razorlame' which is the best free MP3 converter IMO.

never used se, but this is how it is done on sx, probably similar.

drag your locators at the top so that all your audio/midi is within the loop, click on file, select export and then audio mixdown. saves as a wav.

yup. .cpr is just the extension for Cubase Project File, which tells the program which tracks, effects, etc. All your raw tracks are stored as .wav files wherever you designated when you started recording.

Ok, saving as an MP3 is what I was looking to do but after reading here I understand I cant do it that way.
Please tell me where I start to do it wrong.....
File>>>>>Export>>>>>Audio Mixdown
It then tells me my left and right indicators must be set.
I am new to computer recording and not sure what the indicators are or what they look like. I am on a trial version so I dont have a manuel.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

At the top of Cuabse, at the timeline, click on it and a triangle will pop up, move the triangle left and right to select the area you want to mixdown.
