Cubase output through toneport gargles

Hi, I am using a Samsung NC10 1.6GH Atom CPU with 1GB Ram and 120GB free HDD.

I have Cubase 3 SX installed and I am using Line 6 Toneport UX1 to try and record guitar.

I plug my guitar into the instrument jack on the tonport and then put the output of that into my speakers (which is actually a guitar amp set to clean)

I set Cubase to use the toneport to record input and play out.

However when I playback or listen to pre recorded tracks while recording a new one the sound comes out all gargled.

Anyone know any tips or advice for settings or properties to chnage to stop this?

Hmmm... maybe try setting the toneport to record, but set your computer's soundcard to playback, and plug headphones into your soundcard.

Depending on what kind of 'gargled' sound you are getting, maybe the toneport is being overworked.
