Hey so I am running Cubase 4.5.2 or whichever the latest is and the gear im running with it is a Behringer 2442FX Mixer with Samson Resolv 50A reference monitors. I have my reference monitors plugged into the MAIN OUT inserts on the back and just editing headset plugged into phones on the mixer.

my issue is that when im in cubase everything plugged into my mixer is going through the reference monitors! and ive been trying to isolate and just turn down the reference monitors when i am doing recording with mics and condensers but the only way i can turn them down is if i turn my main mix fader down but then when that is turned down of course now no signal is going into cubase i can only isolate the headphones.
plugging the monitors into the CTRL ROOM is already not an option because the level control for the CTRL ROOM is the same as the PHONES JACK so turning them down will now eliminate my headphones.
im wondering if i have to just manually turn down the monitors on the back of it. but then again shouldnt there be a way to bypass that instead of having to get up and do that every single time?

I dont know if this is a cubase or general routing question ill post in both but any help is appreciated!

thanks in advance!

I don't think that mixer is meant for recording. Looks like behringer threw in a USB interface and says it is recording mixer. Where do you have the usb interface plugged in?? How does the manual say to do it?? Did you try hooking it up through the Tape In and Tape Out's?

For sure, it's not a problem in Cubase. Though Cubase (and most any DAW) has a steep learning curve.

Good luck.

What you want to do is not possible with your present equipment.

You need to put a monitor controller between the mixer and the monitors.

There are many options and the most simple once, are just one knob.

Cheers

Monitoring always brings up stuff like this.

Maybe you could make a switch box that goes between the speakers and the mixer so you could kill the speakers when you record.

A couple of Ace hardware switches would probably do it.
