Cubase Elements 6 Question

Total newbie question here. I have been using Adobe Audition exclusively for mastering for the past 4 years. I recently downloaded Cubase Elements 6 and I can't even open a file. I only have wav files and suspect I must use a different format for Cubase. Is there an easy way to convert wav files to whatever format is used with Cubase? I don't do any recording, only mastering old audio, all mono. I am only considering Cubase as I just purchased an Universal Audio card and their plugins are not compatible with Adobe Audition.

Exactly how are you trying to open a wave file?
Wav is pretty much standard in recording so it will open it for sure.

Cubase can import most audio file types:.wav, .aif, .aifc, .aif, .aiff, .mp3, .mp2, .sd2, .wma, .flac, .ogg, .rex, .w64, .rx2.

They can either be 'dragged' into project, and Cubase will convert them to .wav files, or you can use the 'Import' function.

Open Cubase, File>Import>Audio File>select the file>Open.

Hello,

Thank you for the responses. When I go to File>Import, the only option is Midi file (can't select Audio File). Everything I have is in Wavfile format. Any suggestions? I suspect it's my setup but I've never had any problems opening wavfiles in Adobe Audition with my current setup.

I would appreciate any help and thank the memebers in advance.

Thats odd. Well, then create an audio track first, then import.
