Cubase 7, Musican's Friend, Guitar Center, Woodwind & Brass, all the same company.

To save you a bunch of time and trouble reading, I spent the last few days ordering, getting backorder notices, and cancelling orders for Cubase 7 upgrade.

I would place an order at one of the above online stores for Cubase that claimed it was “IN STOCK, READY TO SHIP”.
I would have the sales rep triple check his inventory system to make sure they had a qty. on hand and in every case they claimed they did.
After about an hour I would get an email invoice.
After about 2 hours I would get a backorder notice.
I would call back and the sales rep would go check again and tell me why the first three times he checked he was all wet.

It didn’t take a computer genius to figure out there was a similar pattern here, and after checking my order numbers, they all started with S11****
When I challenged them on this, at first they tired telling me it was just a coincidence. When I pushed and them that that was Bullsh!t they confessed that Guitar Center, Musician’s Friend, and Woodwind and Brass are all owned by the same parent company.

So I still don’t have Cubase 7 upgrade shipping yet, but I did learn something for what its worth. ;)

Has anybody actually received it yet, or was this more BS from the sales people that it has already started shipping but now they are physically out of stock?
Just wondering.

You do realize it doesn't come out till December 5, right??

No, that’s the official release date, but I've gotten stuff well before the official release date. The guy at the local guitar center claims that he already has two copies but can't sell them until black Friday. that is before 12/5. I guess we'll see if anybody actually has it.

You obviously have no idea how the whole business thing works. Of course they are reporting that they have the items stocked, but they are not for sale yet. If you calmed down and weren't trying to be mad at the world, you would have read on both Guitar Center and MusiciansFriend's websites that you can order the item but they do not ship until December. That is why you get placed on backorder, because "backorder" means a customer's order cannot be fulfilled at the time.

Now show some smarts...lol

Wow, that was kinda mean. lol

Yeah, we can't get C7 till December. Not unless you are intimately involved with one of their software writers. I'm just going to say ewww...

:D

yes, that’s is what is on their website now, but this weekend, yesterday it said "In stock" ready to ship. clearly they were lying. so I'll order with the people who told me the truth from the beginning which was sweetwater. I actually believe some of the salespeople were just clueless. I had them check two different systems, and they claimed they did. I don't really know if they went out on a smoke break or not. However what their websites say now (Tuesday, 11/20 at 7:15PM EST) is they are backordered and expect to ship in the middle of December. So it isn't a matter of being mad at anybody, the world, or you. its just what I was told and jerked around for 4 days. I was promised that it would ship, Monday, no wait, Tuesday, no wait, December..

Now again, I have picked up stuff early because the distributor goofed, or something. this isn't the case this time, but it never hurts to try.

What I do know is that the next time this happens I won't be going to Musician’s Friend, Guitar Center, or Woodwind and brass for anything I can't get at Sweetwater or Bhvideo because those people told me the truth. So I don't know what was accomplished here other than losing a customer.

BTW, I know inventory control and when someone claims the inventory is “on hand” I take them at their word., and how to read a foreign key relationship as it pertains to the item, inventory, and stock on hand if I have exposure to that system. In this case, all I had were email receipts and bogus claims. but I'm still trying to learn how that "whole business thing" works.

It's always Sweetwater for me. Can't go wrong with them. I wish they would give me a buck for everytime I recommend them. They need to google Chili and gimme some discounts!!

Actually, this is the first time I have recommended them, because I don't hang with too many people who need musical equipment. ;)

There are many cases where the seller can get in trouble for giving you shit before it's supposed to be available to the public without permission.

Sheeeyit, for example an entire store of gamestop employees (this happened here locally) including the manager were fired for taking home games before their release date.

+1 to Sweetwater. I even got good spam from Nick Church there, when they had boom stands+XLR cable for $20. I bought 3.

They will actually wiggle on prices, if you ask..

I completely understand, but they were the ones claiming it was in stock and ready to ship. I wasn't trying to talk them into anything they weren't already advertising. Its just that after waiting 3 days, and telling me its shipping, did the story change.

It's a mad-crazy disease, Gear Acquisition!!

I'm about ready to buy an Apollo Duo. Sweetwater quoted me a nice little discount. Just gotta sell some other gear first.

I've done well on craigslist too, but you have to be aware of what somethings really worth used and if the thing is any good.

Or why it is for sale, if in fact, it is worth purchasing....

Then again, the best deals, are from pissed off/naive ex girlfriends/wives, selling their ex's stuff on Craigslist. Not cool if you know the guy, but great if you don't! :/

Now, there might be a reason to go MAC........

Sweetwater is the bomb among the big boys, but I still like smaller online shops over that! They tend to have some pretty awesome deals.
