Hey chaps. Newbie here.

I'm running Cubase 5 but I have loads of old SX3 projects that I wish to open up. How can I do this in Cubase 5? Whenever I try I get the 'Invalid File' message.
SX3 is still on my hard drive because Cubase 5 is an upgrade, so do I have to load SX3 in order to open the files, and then save them in some other format that 5 will recognise?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have Cubase 5 or Studio 5? C5 should open up SX3 projects no problem. Do it ALL the time here.

Hi.

Yeah, it's Cubase 5. I used to have SX3 but I upgraded. In order for Cubase 5to run I have to have SX3 still on my system, so perhaps there's something not quite right here? Maybe the two programmes are not communicating, or something.

Bit of a poser, this one.

you can export the audio and midi files and then just build a new project library if thats what it takes.

I would definitely call Stienberg. Something is WRONG. SX3 projects should open in C5 every time. Like I said I do it here ALL THE TIME. Never had a problem.

Same here. I went from SX3 to 5, and opened up all my old SX3 projects in Cubase 5 and picked up right where I left off. No problems. You're definitely experiencing something out of the ordinary.
