Little Background:
I've been sequencing Drum Kit From Hell 2 in Fruity Loops then dumping down the drum parts section by section (i.e. snare, toms, etc) to separate wav files I bring into Cubase. In the zillions of free upgrades they messed up the real time rendering so FL will try and render a 3 minute tune as fast as it can which of course makes it die due to trying to seek all that directly from the disk.
So with that said - I've been told that Cubase's sequencer can do the same thing.
So my question is how?
I'm a hardcore computer science nerd (I'm a programmer & gamer) but I know nothing about VSTi etc, and there is a lack of tutorials on the subject available it seems.
How do I get Drum Kit From Hell in Cubase as an "instrument" so I can use it to sequence the drums with and then get them to wav files (assuming a simple export) I can re-import back in?
What I've tried so far -> I copied the DKFH2 .dll into the "C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 4\VSTPlugins" folder and I can sorta see that it is being "seen" by Cubase 4 but I have no idea what to do from there and if that is even correct - it seems doing it that way Cubase thinks it's an effect.
