Here's the dilemma... I'm recording out of my bedroom and my main concerns are:

1. Shielding from ambient noise (humming, HVAC unit, pipes, etc.)
2. General acoustics to attain proper mix

I guess what I need is a crash course in acoustics so I can make the proper decisions as to what I need for my room to get the best POSSIBLE acoustic environment for vocal recording. I know it won't be perfect, but I would love to optimize my workspace.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

You would get better results if you posted this in the studio building forum. ;)

You can't shortcut the process

Hey man I feel your pain, but IMHO you can never shortcut the learning process withoutpaying the piper somewhere down the road.

There is no such thing as a crash course in acoustics. You can learn snipets...little bits and pieces but you won't have the full picture and will never understand how the puzzle pieces fit together.

There is one place to start....at the beginning. Build a solid foundation on the fundamentals, then work your way up the knowledge chain.
