crackling sound out of amp

there's a crackling sound coming out of my amp. this is after i had accidentally forgot to turn it off and left it on for about 2 days straight. A friend says it's the preamp tubes burning out, i think he might be right. Is that crackling sound the indicator for a change of preamp tubes?

its a fender hot rod deluxe btw.

That amp is way too small. For great cracking-crackling sounds, go with at least 500 watts and four 18" folded horns.

Is it all the time or when you adjust something? some contact cleaner may help
