Hi, I recently upgraded my harddrive from a Maxtor 40 gig, to a seagate 80 gig; both at 7200 RPM.

I downloaded seagates' installer software to configure the the harddrive... but I have problems!

Now I'm getting CPU spikes when I run Cubase SX!!!

This has NOT occured before; it has only started when I installed the new harddrive.

Help! What could be the problem???

has anything changed when you are recording/editing/mixing?

Have you opened up recording sessions that you did on your old setup and now you get spikes on your new setup?

I get spikes on sessions that have a lot of edits, punch ins, ect which may be dude to cpu having to constantly load stuff on and off ram.

perhaps its the installer you downloaded for the drive (maybe its firmware version is giving you some trouble??). i never use those installers, i just format the blank drive and partion it all via a startup disc or windows XP config tool.

something to think about

peace
