I got a sound near on exactly the same with a 6" Dixon cowbell.
The one the Free drummer used wasn't a big one cos its quite high pitched with a short decay on it, I am guessing it was a 6" or maybe an 8" one, but try the Dixon ones, they are good and would suit the sound your after i think![]()

I have actually used quite a few Odd Objects on my Kit Like I used to have a Stop Sign that I hammered into a Cymbal Type Shape and Drilled a Hole through it and Mounted it on a Stand...It has a sort of a China Type sound but different and very Unique, It actually Sounds a Bit like a Car Crash when I hit it......
I also Made my Own China Type Crash Cymbal, what I did was Take a 13 in Hi-Hat cymbal and Pushed in in the Middle so it turned unside out and then did the Same with a 16 in Cheapo Crash and then Mounted the 13 On top of the 16 in with a Thick rubber washer between them and Put them on a Stand and it sounds Very Good ,Better than any China I have ever heard and I can get a Variety of sounds out of Depending if I hit Just one of the Cymbals or Both at the Same Time or seperately......
I think it is Great to Experiment with new Instruments and Sounds this way....
Cheers
The clips in the test drive sound too much alike.MadAudio said:And don't forget the digital modeling cowbell!!!![]()
