Hey everyone. Well I am sitting here with some cable, and connectors and now I am kind of stumped. Just on that fact that I am worried that they might of sold me the wrong cable. I am making some Balanced 1/4" TRS cables and 1 10' Guitar Cable. So they sold me a 3-Conductor Mic cable for the TRS and then a 2 Conductor Mic Cable for the TS. But I thought you are sposed to use the Sleve as the ground. If that is the case I would have 1 extra wire on each cable. hmmmm. Here are the cables if you go to http://bwccat.belden.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/BELDEN/frames.d2w/report and in the seach type in 8423 that is the 3conductor mic cable and then 8412 is the other one there is a diagram of some sorts that I dont really understand. And also what colors go to which part of the connector? Or does it really matter just as long as one end corresponds to the other end? Thank you if anyone can help.

Yes you need 2-conductor + ground wire for balanced
conductor1 = T
conductor2 = R
ground = S

and 1 conductor + ground for unbalanced.
conductor = T
ground = S

Yeh I know that, but I have 3 conductor Plus the Shielding and 2 conductor plus the Shielding.

Well that's my point... you have the wrong cables :)
Well one at least

How can they be the wrong cables if they are called 3 conductor Mic Cables? Cant I just use the 3rd conductor for the Ground instead of the Sleve?

Or does the sleve have to actully have to have a current of some sort running through it to Shield the cable?
