Hi all.

As a new user on this forum i'll try to keep my voice down
:D

One thing i hope someone could explain or otherwise
clarify a bit is:

I use a Behringer MX8000 mixconsole and as this only has
mono channels and adjustable inputlevel trim's it's up to the user to adjust the input's properly...

And the manual say's that to push channel-solo-button for
input monitoring and set the level to 0db.

I rescently got some sample CD's with sampled Drumloops
that i was to incorporate in one of my tunes, when i discovered that with the leveltrim's all the way down
(no gain)and the channel faders set to 0db gain, the Drumsound were peaking at +4db..??( the soundcards faders were all the way up... fullthrottle.. :D )

As i have the Dbx Quantum multiband processor and a
RME digi 96/8 PRO and AES/EBU connections i feel that
i want to go with this standard....but...
how to trim the line levels correctly..??

Solo the channel and set it to peak on +4dbu or turn every thing down to -10dbV??

TIA

Since nobody else answered this I'll give it a go.

It sounds too me that your soundcard output is set as +4dBu, is that right? I took a look at the specs for the MX8000A (http://www.behringer.de/docs/MX8000A/MX8000A_B_Specs.pdf). I couldn't figure out what levels it works with internally, but they mention the +4dBu alot, so I guess that the internal reference level. Therefore I'm not sure if the +4dB peaks means that your soundcard outputs +4dBu max or if they output +8dBu max (although my bet is on the last one).

In any case, it looks like the input channels should happily work with anything up to +22dBu, so even if your soundcard outputs +8dBu, the mixer should be quite happy with that. Therefore, the best thing seems to me to just lower the faders 4dB, so the meters peak on 0dB.

Or, any other bids?

Hi Regebro.

I'm a bit embarrassed...
Sometimes my head doesn't work correctly... :D
...but thanx to people like you, it's very easy to get back
on track again.

May the force be with you.
