Ok, I have several problems...

1. I've had to delete drums on a song to record vocals.and I dumped the drums to my pc. I realized that i can't keep vocals in sync without drums.. so i dumped bass instead. when i tried to put drums back on the mr8 it acts like there is nothing on that track. keep in mind i have not been using wavmanager.

2. we recorded 2 melody parts for guitar and when I imported them into n=track.. while everyone else was in sync.. these 2 tracks were not. Why could this be?

thanks

I'll take a shot at #1. I think you need wavmanager to do this more easily. If you have renamed the file I don't think it will go back on the MR-8 without renaming it again to tr01, tr02, etc.

Hey DFMJoe, once you get through this problem and finish the song, I highly recommend that you get some multitracking software and do all of the mixing and editing in the computer. Use the MR8 for tracking only, it will save you a lot of headaches.

Morindae, he says he is using n-Track.......I think something else is going on here. I don't think it's a good idea to import directly to n-Track though. Like Gospel says, you definitely should get the wave manager from the fostex site, it could very well clear up both of those problems.

You're right, I posted in the early hours of the morning and must have spaced. On second reading I think you guys are on the right track with the wavemanager recommendation. :)

Well I sat here and told Joe about transferring from PC to MR-8 and now for some reason I can't do it? I did a search on this forum because I thought I had did this before (forgot how to transfer) and can't find anything. When I do find out the step by step instructions I'm going to write them down.

hm...

Here's how u transfer from pc to mr-8

1. Open wav manager

2. find the file u want to transfer to the mr-8 on ur pc

3. rename the file to whichever track number u want the track to go to on the mr-8 example: tr01, tr02, and so on

4. Find the renamed file in wavmanager, and import it to the mr8, it should go to the track u named it, if it is in the proper format

That's what I did and it keeps saying do you want to overwrite this file (song file). If you say yes it will not transfer? If you say cancel it will not transfer?
I have a feeling this is one of those things that when I figure it out I'm gonna be saying "oh yeah I forgot I had to do that".

I always say "yes" and it goes right through. It seems something might be wrong somewhere.
