The other day i was mixing 3 songs onto a stand alone cassette recorder. i was in a rush and left the recording volume for the unit quite high. When i played it back on my stereo and in the car it was very distorted and loud. After awhile i decided i like certain parts of it like that, it added alot of energy to my song which was a nice surprise. I wouldnt mind utilising this a bit more. I just want the bass and drums to clip, but the vocals and lead instruments as per norm. Is there anyway to just disort 2 tracks? My equipment is a Tascam 488MKII.
Anyone else ever used this?

I'm not trying to be a smart as but you could just run the drum or bass tracks through your effects loop into a distortion pedal. I' ve run entire mixes through a Pro-co Rat before. It can be interesting.

You could also use a good tape saturation plugin and drive the levels, nice...In essence, that is what is happening on cassette or any analgue medium. You could also use valves and drive them for energy. Slight distortion is also a great tool when used in moderation.
