Well, I did a quick mix - I effed up the Tom panning - I realized after dumping it. Also, it cuts pretty hard since it's not sitting in a mix......

Totally different than the OP's mix, but w/o having it in context, it's kinda hard to know how to mix them........

Oh, and the .wav's never did work, so the high-end is pretty hosed......

Am I too late??? :(
I listened to your drums...VERY nice job I have to say. I really like the tight and slappy sound and the snare is very snappy.

Thanks! :D

Bass & guitar recorded!

We finally had a chance to track the bass and lead guitar yesterday. There is a clean, direct track for the bass as well as for the guitar. In addition, I also recorded an amp'd track of the guitar. The purpose of the clean guitar track is to allow some flexibility later on using Amplitube.

Mine All Mine - Something To Believe - bass track

Mine All Mine - Something To Believe - clean guitar track

Mine All Mine - Something To Believe - amp'd guitar track

If anyone requires the .wav files, please let me know and I will try to get them hosted.

Keys and vocals will be tracked within the next 2 weeks.

Thank you everyone!

Do the files start at the same time as the drum tracks? It don't sound like it.

here is my best guess at lining them up -

Is that even close?

On the mp3 versions, it looks like the file information that the encoder adds at the beginning takes up exactly 50ms. Thus, any mp3 track added will sound slightly late. I loaded both the .wav and .mp3 and zoomed in and matched a transient on each.

I assume you're one of the people that downloaded the drum wav files, so if you insert this bass mp3 track, it will need to be moved to the left (earlier in time) by 0:0:050.

No, I downloaded the mp3 tracks.......How close is the sample I put up??? It seems in time sometimes, other times not so much.

I checked yours last night, and for the most part it seems very close. I couldn't really tell one way or another if it was out of sync, or if it was just the natural tempo swing.

Im not sure how many folks are still working on this...but I have the .wav files if anyone would rather mix them than the mp3's...

tracks 1-4
tracks 5-8

Just down loaded it all.

Just one quick question they all start at 0 or the begining ?

Thanks in advance.

The drum files that Jeremy is hosting for me all start at zero. You will notice some silence at the beginning, then the drums start (I think it's a hat on 2 and 4). During the silence there is nothing (no other instruments). During the hat part, the guitar plays the intro riff.

FYI for everyone, the vocals and keys will be done this upcoming weekend.

Did anyone else other than NL5 have problems sync'ing the bass and guitar with the drum files?

I have everyone's drum mixes and I intend to do a ranking here shortly, but I wanted to wait until all the tracks were ready.

All files are now available

Finally, we've finished the tracking!

Guitar (clean)
Guitar (Amplitube'd)
Bass
Synth
Piano
Vocals

And these are the existing drum files that were posted previously:
Kick
Snare
Overhead Left
Room Center

Overhead Right
Tom 13"
Tom 14"
Tom 15"

I know this was started as a "drum mix" contest, and I did put together a ranking, but it sounds like most people would like to mix the drums in the context of the full song.

We are beginning the final mixing this weekend for all the songs, and we'll begin with this one using the approach and techniques that others post on here. On Friday night I'll post the winner.

Post the ranking! :D

Okay, I'll give the "drum-only" mixes all one more run through and post a preliminary ranking tonight. Then if people are interested, they can download the mixes near the top of the list and hear how they sound in comparison.
