Well, am borrowing a yamaha promix 01 right now. Being honest, I dont know what to do, to hook it up to my computer. Could somebody give me a hand? Does it connect by rca or......?

What kind of soundcard is installed in your computer? I believe the Promix has SPIDF out...

I have a soundblaster audigi, nothing fancy or external. it doesnt have a spidif out, it does have a "digital" out though.

Ok cool, well your soundcard doesn't support digital in, but you should be able to take the analog outs of the yamaha and get an adapter to feed them into the mini jack on your soundcard... are you going to be using it for a while? If so, I'll echo what are usualy the sentiments of the board and suggest upgrading your soundcard to something alittle better so you can go in digital....
Hope this helps, good luck!

Recording via SPIDF

So we have Yamaha Promix01 in our rehersal room, currently we do not have spidf in sound card though. So my question would be if we use spidf in sound card can Promix01 send out channels separatled or does it send just 2 channels.

If any of Promix's outputs cant send out more than 2 channels, do you suggest using multiple input soundcard instead. I dont care so much of guitar tracks but i'd like to record drums on separate tracks (5 mics on drums)?

First of all instead of tagging your question onto the end of an 18 month old thread start a new thread of your own. It's free and you will be much happier with the results.

The ProMix01, being an older product, is not what I'd call generous with individual outputs. It was intended as a large submixer and not as a main mixer as you are using it. The SPDIF outputs just carry the audio from the 2-mix, also called the left and right stereo output. I suggest you go with a multiple input soundcard like this.
