first i tried connecting my audiophile 2496 into my mackie 1642, stereo channels 13-14, but the levels were way too low.

to get any sound at all I had to trim all the way up to +20, max out the fader to +10, and turn up the phones to max as well (i dont have monitors yet, so i just use headsets). this method introduced alot of noise, and the sound level was still very low.

so I pressed the solo button, and this seemed to solve the problem of the sound level (also made the rude solo light blink), my question is - is there anyway to listen to the audiophiles output at a reasonable level without pressing the solo button?

i also have some keyboards (which is the main reason for getting a 1642) connected to the 1642, and probably will purchase some outboard gear such as a compressor and reverb in the future.

the way I would like to have my soundcard, keyboards and mixer connected is:

Audiophile outputs ==> 1642
Various keyboards and guitar ==> 1642
1642 ==> Audiophile inputs

any advice would be much appreciated.
