hi guys, first post.
this seems like a nice forum, ill definitely stick around.

im looking to start making computerized drums. i don't have a drummer, but i am looking for one. but in the mean time i think its easier to make something on computer so i can at least give it to someone to show them what the song sounds like.

i'm sure there must be lots of options. but can anyone give me a tip for where to start? whats a good program? what to do etc. i downloaded fruity loops and had a quick play, but everything seemed to sound like techno on that thing. any ideas?

Thanks guys.

A quick search of the site should reveal a few different options for you. I use ezdrummer and love it. As the name implies, it's very easy to use. You didn't mention a budget, but ezdrummer costs about $150USD. Well worth the money.

Cheers,

thanks, yeah ive been doing a bit of searching. but couldn't find too much.
anyway, thanks for your reply. ill give that program a shot.

I recorded samples of my drummer's kit, and I manually piece together the hits in Reaper.

I don't recommend this method as it's labor intensive and pretty lame. (Reaper's still cool though) ;)

I used leafdrums when I was living in an apartment and couldn't play my drums. It's free.
