This laptop has a single celeron processor. I know I'm going to need a new computer for running software such as Reason 4, Cubase, etc.

I tried to use this computer in Fruity Loops, and when I played the keyboard as my midi controller the sounds on the computer would lag. Yea, that's no good.

So what kind of computer do I need to have no lag or problems using today's advanced software with midi controllers?

I mean, there are laptops with AMD dual cores and 3gigs of ram for $400 bucks, would such a thing be enough?

Lag is mostly caused by the type of soundcard you are using rather than the computer itself. A single celeron processor is not of itself usually a problem for audio. Dual core and 3gig of RAM is fine, but may not solve your problem.

I have a dula core 4 gig dell...will run anything but you need an audo interface...I use a cheap behri UCA202 as this is only when Im out and about for something to do...but forget the onboard card....mines would click and pop at 12% CPU...less than useless
