Computer Speakers vs. Monitors

As my regular computer speakers ( Logitech z560's ) have finally blown, half way... I'm in the market for new speakers, and I asked my buddy FattMusiek if I should just go ahead and get studio monitors instead of another set of computer speakers... but he didn't give me a clear answer - he just said that I should get a pair of cheap-o computer speakers.

What do you guys have to say about this?

Lol, that's quite the comparison, I think the two are as far apart as you can get.

I suggest you do yourself a favor and go have a listen to some.

What are you currently using your computer speakers for??

I'm using my computer speakers for listening to music, thats about it. If I got monitors, they would be for both listening to music and for the studio that I'm putting together next year.
