Computer Savvy people? PC is screwed

my friend put a sound card into my computer a few months back - and ever since then I've been having issues with the audio device (randomly shuts off to no device) I made a separate thread about that.

But do you think this could be related? Would it be worth opening my case up and taking the little thing out?

While it is highly unlikely that your audio card could be contributing to your hard drive issues, Troubleshooting 101 says that when your computer is acting funky, remove ALL devices that are not absolutely necessary for the computer to boot. Then if it starts working, add your devices back one at a time until you figure out which one is causing the problem.
 
i still think its the harddrive... a usb problem or a sound card problem wouldnt prevent you from loading windows.

I'm back on my PC everything back to normal =).

My friend used the windows disc in the "Repair" portion - and created a new "Boot Registry"

worked like a charm. I'm pretty psyched about it.
 
forgive me, I was downing the sauce pretty heavy tonight.

I didn't realize the clip shift was an effect in itself - I thought the topic was referencing the sleight "Clip steal". My apologies.

And there's no reason to get hostile people... I don't see the reason to try and jump down my throat like that -

I really do see why this place went to hell. It was already over run with snobby little kids trying to trade dvd's and talk magic while rarely ever performing it for anyone besides their parents.

Want to thank everyone again for all the help =) really happy about being back on my comp without having to re-install everything.
