I just recently purchased a Fostex Mr-8 Mkii. Everytime I attempt to export a .wav file/track using the wav manager software (PC to MR), my cursor indicates loading but the result is nothing. I am following the manual instructions correctly but I may have missed somthing. I am converting mp3s to wavs and renaming "tr**.wav". The check boxes indicate the amount of tracks in the file so im sure im doing it right. ?? Does anyone know why my pc would "freeze" up like this when i attempt to export from pc to mr? Ive tried this on two different pcs so im sure its not the actual pc itself. Please help (im a noob)

I have an MR-16 (non CD ROM model). I never could get the wav manager to work on my computer, even after downloading the most recently released version. Not saying that it doesn't work, mind you. It just hasn't worked on my computer at all, but I haven't let that stop me.

See if this helps...

* Plug the USB cable into the provided spot on the back of the unit.

* Plug the other end into an available USB port on your computer.

* Click on "My Computer".

* The directory should show the MR-8 as an external hard drive. Click on that folder.

* Look for the appropriate song (should be in a .wav format). You might have a choice of two different folders, but the song should be in one of them.

* Copy or cut it from that folder to your desktop -or- a designated location for your music.

* Double click on that folder and take a listen to the wav file you transferred.

NOTE: I learned the hard way that this works much faster if the computer has a USB 2.0 connection.

Hope this helps.

Im trying to export from PC to MR. ^^^ Sounds like MR to PC instructions. Thanks for your input. Anyone else?

Sorry. I misread it.
I can't say that I've tried to load from PC to MR. My bad.

so I would assume the easiest way to get my wav files onto the MR would be to use an external cd-r/wr driver and just record in real time? I made no progress on the export problem and the external cd driver seems to be my only alternative so.. if anyone has experience with doing this, feedback will be appreciated.

I actually tried that a few minutes ago.
Played it from the computer straight into the MR-16 track # 1 input. Shouldn't be a problem.

Have you tried bumping a message to Terfyn here on HR.com? He's pretty familiar with the Fostex line of stuff. If you weren't aware, he also hosts another forum on Fostex...

I hope he can help you out. Please update this thread if you resolve this problem.

Bless you for your faith! This web site belongs to Cairns (olivier recordings) who is and has been a great supporter of Fostex. Please relay your question to this site and Cairns or other members will help.
I am sorry I can't give an answer on this one ('cos I don't know) I normally record direct to CD on my MR16 HD/CD and do not use WavManager to transfer files to the MR16.

One thought. You cannot transfer stereo .wav files. They should be split into the Left and Right tracks. One file for each. I wonder if this is your problem?

You've been rather helpful so far. Thanks for your much needed advice.
I just wish I could get WavManager to actually recognize my MR16 when it's plugged in via USB. I want to make as much use of this recorder as possible, and that would be a great function to have.
