don't like the fascade fool ya
we're all smartasses around here. that's just the way we's is. but we're all nice folks. really!
if you look around the "rack" and the "other equipment and reviews" forums, you'll see that there are on any given day, at least one or two "which compressor under $X is best" threads. take some time and look around. maybe do a couple searches and get acquainted with the site. and mostly get acquainted with the way folks are.
back to the question at hand: for under $200, and for an "all around solid, transparent, easy to use compressor" there really is nothing better than an RNC, and you'll hear it said in each of those threads i mentioned above. now are there different compressors at that pricepoint that will do a good job? you bet. are there ones that may be better on your source for that particular song? absolutely. but based on what you've provided (which consisted of "i need a compressor and i have $200), the answer is easy--check into an RNC.
secondly, you'll also see that behringer gear is mostly frowned upon around here. this is due to one reason or another, but mostly stems from poor quality control, ultra-cheap components and non-existent customer service. some behringer units may be quite usable, while others might be good for a doorstop (and might not even be good at that). as a rule though, if you spend a little more money, you'll get a product with better components and a company that invests a little more in things being the same from unit to unit. that's not to say that you can't get good results from an autocom or whatever--but you likely won't be satisfied. especially when you can spend another $70 up front and get much better results from the gitgo.
there is a lot of wisdom buried within the sarcasm around here....and believe it or not, the goal really is to educate. the biggest lesson you can learn is "buy cheap, buy twice". it's followed by its corollary "buy quality gear, buy once". this doesn't just mean "only buy expensive gear"--it means "look for the gems and stay away from the garbage that's meant to steal your money and give you bad results". that can be true across all areas of the price spectrum. in this case, with sub-$200 compressors, the "quality gear" is the RNC and the "cheap gear" is the behringer. you will get much better results with the RNC.
and if you don't like the RNC, you'll have a whole community of folks willing to take it off your hands.....that won't be the case with behringer gear.
