hey... i have 200 dollars... i need a compressor... but i also need some other stuff... cords.. mics.. etc... i have 300... i heard the RNC compressor was nice.. but i also heard the behringer one.. for 130 is nice... not sure the name... but since i need more things after the compressor... should i get the behringer or upgrade to the rnc... so my ? is... is thier a noticeable difference between the behr. and the RNC ? cause if not ill save about 70 bucks.. alot for me tho.. thx

If you can't hear the difference between the Bear Ringer and the RNC, I suggest you sell all your recording gear and take up some other hobby.

It sounds like you have'nt heard eather comp so all in all the
RNC would be a lot better as a comp but I understand the money
thing so depending on how good you want the quilty of your recordings that should be your desiding factor because you could also spend thousands on a comp. but I really think the RNC would be good for you if you can aford it, then save money as you can and buy a little here and a little there like we all are doing.
Good luck

In my instance, I bought the RNC cause it was cheaper than the other route (actually I bought it because it was a much nicer unit in addition to FMR being a much more preferable (to me) company..but that wouldnt be good for this post...so lets pretend)

Route One: Buy RNC and be out $175
Route Two: Buy Behringer, Behringer breaks or you outgrow it, Buy RNC and be out $305

Of course it might be possible that you will be happy with the Behringer forever and that it will always work in which case you should go for it I suppose...

I personally would always support a small company making a great product for a slightly higher retail tag than a large company churning out subpar products for a few renminbi's, i mean dollars, less...

buy the RNC

and forget about the BeginnERINGER gear.

if you buy crap, you'll buy twice and blow more money. just get the RNC and be done with it.

my RNC was some of the best cash i've spent.

thx all

thx for the help.. ill prob. go with the rnc.. and digitmus.. stop being an asshole... i asked wat comp was better... becuase i NEVER heard either... next time try to be a help instead of a smartass

don't like the fascade fool ya

we're all smartasses around here. that's just the way we's is. but we're all nice folks. really!

if you look around the "rack" and the "other equipment and reviews" forums, you'll see that there are on any given day, at least one or two "which compressor under $X is best" threads. take some time and look around. maybe do a couple searches and get acquainted with the site. and mostly get acquainted with the way folks are.

back to the question at hand: for under $200, and for an "all around solid, transparent, easy to use compressor" there really is nothing better than an RNC, and you'll hear it said in each of those threads i mentioned above. now are there different compressors at that pricepoint that will do a good job? you bet. are there ones that may be better on your source for that particular song? absolutely. but based on what you've provided (which consisted of "i need a compressor and i have $200), the answer is easy--check into an RNC.

secondly, you'll also see that behringer gear is mostly frowned upon around here. this is due to one reason or another, but mostly stems from poor quality control, ultra-cheap components and non-existent customer service. some behringer units may be quite usable, while others might be good for a doorstop (and might not even be good at that). as a rule though, if you spend a little more money, you'll get a product with better components and a company that invests a little more in things being the same from unit to unit. that's not to say that you can't get good results from an autocom or whatever--but you likely won't be satisfied. especially when you can spend another $70 up front and get much better results from the gitgo.

there is a lot of wisdom buried within the sarcasm around here....and believe it or not, the goal really is to educate. the biggest lesson you can learn is "buy cheap, buy twice". it's followed by its corollary "buy quality gear, buy once". this doesn't just mean "only buy expensive gear"--it means "look for the gems and stay away from the garbage that's meant to steal your money and give you bad results". that can be true across all areas of the price spectrum. in this case, with sub-$200 compressors, the "quality gear" is the RNC and the "cheap gear" is the behringer. you will get much better results with the RNC.

and if you don't like the RNC, you'll have a whole community of folks willing to take it off your hands.....that won't be the case with behringer gear.

Gee, what a nice guy. FWIW I did help, and I DIDN'T call you nasty names. You asked if there was a noticeable difference between the 2 - I answered. I'm sorry I don't have a link where you can download a sense of humor.
