I HAVE A COMPRESSOR AND I CAN'T USE IT

If anyone knows how (which i believe someone will) then please help!
I have just aquired a Behringer Composer Pro Compressor and i have a Peavey RQ200 Mixing Desk, How do i hook them up with an effects loop and basically how do i use it.
Are there any set parameters i can use (like a chart). I'm just trying to control things like Clean guitars and Vocals.

Thank You!!

You don't use one through an effects loop. Use it through either the main buss inserts to use it over the entire mix or channel inserts to use it on a specific channel.

Right. Use it through an insert on your mixer (if it has one). In particular, use a compressor after a preamp to affect the entire signal, not just a portion of a signal sent through an effects loop. For example, a compressor does not get blended in like ambiance effects (reverb, delay, chorus, etc.), it manipulates the entire signal like EQ.

Processors vs. Effectors

A Processor (compressor, limiter, eq or a gain stage such as a mic preamp) doesn't have a mix control. The entire sound becomes completely different.

An Effector (reverb, chorus, delay) adds or manipulates a protion of the original signal. Most of the time the original sound is still audible.
