hey.. i have a compressor settin on my mixer ( behringer ub 2222 ) should i use that or get a compressor rack thing.. im a newb.. and wat should i use compresor on? vocals? drums? thx

Well, you can use a compressor on anything. (Like that helkps you much)

1st question would be what are you mixing.

When you have limited tools, you use the tools in the most demanding places 1st. Usually Vocals and Bass

Then parse out your compressors to everything else.

So again, what are you mixing?

Out board compressors generally are much better than the ones built into a mixer, unless you are using an SSL or NEVE. :)

compress

i use a behringer ub 2222 mixer... i track everything at different times..... so i can add mixer compressro to everthing... but wat should i add it to.. wat is most common.. im using radio shack and nady mics

So this is for tracking purposes. Okay

Most common is vocals, to smooth out the dynamics of the performance.

Next in IMHO is Bass. Same purpose.

The rest is subjective, Give it a shot, use the compression sparingly and see what results you get. If you don't like what you hear, don't use it.

I presume you are talking about the comp that is available in the FX section?
If this is so then get an outboard comp, the latest Behringers will do fine.
The FX compressor is fine when used as an FX in its own right but not much use otherwise IMO.
