I just got me a computer like less than a week ago.. and I need a LOT of help. I own a drum machine.. and I want to hook it up to my PC to record music with. I also need something with MIDI sounds or whatever.. cause my drum machine is just drums, as most of them are. I'll mostly be making hiphop music, but in the future I want to hook up my guitars and get some punk going on. anyone have any suggestions on some software I could get or how to hook up my drum machine? also, anything else you would like to tell me about recording music with my PC would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

there is a heap of free/shareware available on www.hitsquad.com you can pick up all sorts of free synths and recording software there, and loop software too...actually apart from cubase and re-birth thats where i've gotten all my music software from...in the begining its best to figure a lot of stuff out for yourself, but hitsquad is a darn good place to start!

When recording to PC, your soundcard plays a major role.

If you're using Windows, in the Control Panel, click on System. Then choose the Device Manager tab. You should find your soundcard under Sound, Video and Game controller (or something like that).

Also, check on the back of your computer. You should find some inputs/outputs.

Type of OS (operating system)?

Windows ME

Type of processor?

Intel celeron

Speed of processor?

667MHZ

Amount of RAM?

64

Size of hard drive?

10.0

Speed of hard drive?

dunno?

Type of sound card?

dunno?

I tried to go to my control panel and see what type of soundcard I have.. but it didn't show me. also.. I looked on the back of my PC to see how I could hook up my drum machine.. and I'm guessing the only way is to use midi cables ;\

Sonic something ACID

I just got this ACID program and I don't understnad it at ALL. if someone has ever used this thing and could tell me just how to get started, I would be extremely happy. mail me or IM me on AOL - - SeiPooP - -

thanks.

acid won't help you with connecting your drum machine if you want to program it from the pc..
what you need is a sequencer.. what i suggest is getting Steinberg Cubase VST, this will give you both full control over your drum machine and you'll be able to use socalled vst intruments inside cubase.. both samplers and synths.. very cool..
And we have plenty experienced people with cubase around here.

You should be able to check out what soundcard you got in Window Control Panel - System and check yo devices from there :)
