Gone
Here's the holdup. The original cd labels I did up went goofy. I sent them off a couple weeks ago to the duper to make sure they'd work, and he replied that some of the text was way too small. Upon inspection, I realized that something had gone sour...I must not have the font installed that I used for some of the text, and my software made a substitution.

Last week (tuesday or wednesday) I redid the labels from scratch and sent them off to the duper again (this time saving tiff copies). I haven't heard back from him, but he's a busy studio owner. If I don't hear from him early this coming week I'll start nagging.

It's always something.

Let it stay fetal....it's way too old to ever be actually born....save me the embarrassment....die unborn cd....die .......gibs

No way. I want to hear this CD.

You realize this thing's two years old now, give or take? For me, it'll be a really interesting listen, historically speaking. I don't know who's on the CD really, but I bet there are a lot of people on the CD who aren't on this board anymore.

You know what would really be a blast? Comparing the CD Slack's working on to a new one of what people are doing now. Just a guess, but I think the sound would be better on the new one.

Definately.

Don't worry, every single person who buys this CD will understand that it's more of a historical record than a current "who's who" type recording. Hell, I put Hindsight on it, and it's probably the song I'm most embarassed of when I listen back on it.

I have a simple method by which the second comp CD could be pumped out in 6 months or less...basically the single fixed deadline, no extra garbage idea that we've discussed before. If whoever takes this project over learns from my mistakes, then Volume II should appear quickly, and yeah, it will be really cool to hear how much some of us have changed.

P.S. I just got a word back from the duper today and he said that the new labels I did up should work fine. This is it!!

Which reminds me. (This isn't the forum for it, but screw it - you're the moderator - delete it if you don't like it. :D) You did a handful of very good stuff 6 months ago that you put up in the clinic. You putting a CD of it together?

The Comp CD is now in duplication....that is, on a mail truck to the duplicator. I'm getting 75 sets made because that's what we had the money for upfront (just over $300). I'm going to foot the bill for the jacket printing myself until I get some orders in (keep an eye on this forum, I'll let you all know when you can actually order).

Dobro,

Yeah that project is called "One Week" (oooo clever) and is still in the works. I've basically got three full songs to finish writing and get recorded. Once I've got an idea I usually turn it into a "finished" product in about 48 hours, but I'm still waiting for some damn inspiration. Monday is finished. Sunday is going to be remixed a little but is finished. Saturday is finished. The Next Day is getting a new ending and a stereo effect. I'll be slapping new piano sounds into Thursday (VSTi instead of samples) but it's finished. The vocals for Tuesday are finished but I can't figure out how the stupid music is supposed to sound. Wednesday (or friday) was half done and then I lost the original tracks so I just have this one decent mixdown of it that haunts me. You know what's weird is that two of the songs that are being written could very well be songs that I'll actually be proud of...like what I've been trying to accomplish all along...I think I'm afraid to fuck it up so I keep putting them off.

"I think I'm afraid to fuck it up so I keep putting them off."

LOL Yes I've noticed that pattern in you. But I've noticed it in myself as well. I haven't really overcome it, but the way I deal with it is to keep working at the music, put lots of energy into it. The worry doesn't go away really, but doing the music is fun, and interesting things happen when you're recording all the time.

Sm2k,

Just checked out your website and downloaded 2 more songs.
"Adity" (Montana grunge), great tune. That's all you? Great tune.
I haven't heard anything like that in the short time I've been haunting the clinic. I guess these tunes were up there a long time ago.
"Me vs. Me" and "thursday" This is some seriously crazy stuff.
Yeah, there's nothing like this in the clinic. Some seriously original and sick stuff. I'll stop posting in the wrong section, but just wanted to give you another shout on these tunes since there not in the clinic. I'll be checkin' out the rest and downloading the ones I like. Got 3 so far. No response needed.
