Collectively, our artist name for the CD could be "The HomeRec'ers" and the CD title could be "HomeRecording.Comp" Just an idea.

Officially, for CD title, I vote for HomeRecording.Comp

Is anyone else kind of sickened by Santana's latest "work?" What the hell? I guess I can't blame them, but shit.

The songs seem to be 100% pop, and there is next to no emotion on the guitar. For the first 5 or 6 years while I was learning to play the guitar (and I'm still learning of course) I used to stick a tune on the stereo and just kind of noodle along with it. I'd find the key and just sort of play...stuff. When I first heard that tune with the Matchbox 20 guy, that's EXACTLY what the guitar playing reminded me of....better than me of course, but still just noodling...constant, thoughtless dinking.

I suppose the next thing we'll see is a Gratefull Dead reunion with Britney Spears filling in for Jerry Garcia.

LOL. Digital Menudo... cracked me up.

If Ricky Martin is on this project count me out. Besides, once Santana wins his 30 Grammys, or whatever obscence number he was nominated for, maybe the general music-buying population will realize that Latin based rock/pop music has been around forever and wasn't invented by soap opera Ricky and Jennifer Lopez's rear. Just makes me cry though that it took the guy from Matchbox20 to get Santana noticed again by the mainstream. :(

I hear ya... I read the other day that song "Smooth" was written by the Matchbox20 guy and not Santana. And it does kinda sound like Santana just went into the studio, heard this song that Matchbox (don't know his name, don't care) wrote, and said "Well, I'll put a few notes on this and make some money from my record sales." I agree about the noodling. It sounds sorta like the temporary guitar leads in some of my songs, with better guitar playing by Carlos of course. The ones where I don't have any idea for the melody yet, and just play a few licks here and there that fit in. Santana can do that to make his money if he wants, he's been around long enough and has the talent. Doesn't bother me near as much as those manufactured groups that are killing music right now, like Backstreet Boys. Which reminds me of something else I read in another thread on the BBS today. In the one about The Beatles sucking, someone said they (The Beatles) were the Backstreet Boys of the '60s. I don't think so, but if I'm wrong and that's the future of music, kill me now. Please.

Britney Spears and the Grateful Dead would be an interesting show. Maybe some of those gullible music buying teens in the audience would get serious "enlightenment" if you know what I mean, and the current pop music trend would change for the better. "Hit me baby one more time" would take on a whole other meaning for them, as in, pass that joint over here again.

am i the only one that thinks santanas supernatural blows young dead virgin rabid monkeys ? the whole album is him noodling on other peoples songs..and in my opinion , the only reason it did so well is BECAUSE of ricky martin , marc anthony , lou bega , jennifer lopez and the whole crew of latin artists that made it.. why ? because all of the sudden its "trendy" to like latin artists..that album was out for months before it sold a copy.. and once the public got wind that santana was latin , they went out and bought his music because its the cool thing to do..

just my opinion...

If you wanna hear a Latin artist that ain't even close to trendy, but has some authentic rhythms- check out Benny Moré. THE soundtrack of the South Bronx.

Geez, I went and did this in another thread, but anyway - my vote goes to the best two titles I've heard so far:

* You and Whose Dragon?

* Why Doesn't My Girlfriend Like This?

I like the second one better, actually, because it's catchier and has commercial potential.
