Which mic is good for recording bass rigs? It will be added to my studio later so versatility is c#m. Please help. The budget is up to 1250 list and Clarity is the goal. I will be more specific with future posts-thanx.

Budget? The sE Electronics Gemini is very well matched to bass cabs / outside of kick etc and other stuff too.

I'd be more inclined to use a dynamic mic. RE-20, ATM-25, Beyer M380, Beyer M88, Sennheiser MD421.

Steve Albini likes the AT4033.

I liked the ATM25 and the RE20 even though they're not condenser mics.

I was going to mention that as well. I think he actually generally uses an AT4033 and an RE20 bussed together.

My recollection from a Gearslutz thread is that he also uses the Beyer M380 on bass. Of course once that was published, the price of M380s skyrocketed. They are nice, if a bit unusual, mics. I think they are the only dynamic figure 8 mic that's not a ribbon.

Ulrich Wylde likes using an AKG 451. After trying it myself, I quite agree:)

Just finished tracking bass for an album using an AUDIX D6 on the rig and Sansamp for direct... They worked great.
We'll start mixing in March so that'll confirm how well it worked.

Oh and got nice clearity at the top end with the D6.
