Closet echo! ahh!

i turned my closet into a vocal booth..and took everything and now it has EXTREME echo. what is the most efficient way to get rid of it?

would the Aurlex 2inch think foam work?

i dont want ot isolated it..i jsut want to get rid of the echo..


any tips?

In a room as small as a typical closet, you will basically want to cover every surface with foam. Probably use a cardioid mic too.

Foam will make the low end much (MUCH) worse - It's a horrible, terrible idea. The average closet will resonate at the fundamentals of the baritone range. And foam won't do a thing to stop it - It'll actually rob the space of any reasonable ambience, allowing the low resonance to take over.

The only way to effectively use a closet as a vocal booth is to tear down the inner layer of drywall and fill the studs with 4" OC703 or rock-wool.

Better yet, just don't use a closet as a vocal booth. Keep noisy gear in the closet - That works well.

ahh tear down my closet walls! lol..this new "hobby" has burend a hole in my wallet. lol cant even eat food in college lol


is there any OTHER way..that's less drastic..to make it sound OKAY..i dont want ne thing too good..u know..just good enough to where it doesnt sound like i recored it inside a tunnel

Just don't record in the closet. Almost *any* room, no matter how bad acoustically, is going to sound better than a closet.

"Closet vocal booths" only work well in the movies (from what I'm told - I never saw that movie). Acoustically speaking, the average closet is good for -- Well, you could probably record piccolo or triangle in one if it was filled with bags of R32 or something. But for vocals? Not on a bet without filling the studs with broadband trapping.
