clipping problems

my vocals seem to keep clipping, even though they aren't... as in, in certain spots it will make a clicky sound as if there were clipping, but they don't even get into the yellow on the monitor. the odd thing is, if i start playing the track right near the spot, it won't clip, but if i play back from farther away, it will clip. and it clips on audiomixdown too. i've tried using VSTFull Dynamics, but it doesn't help [it helps a little, but not much]. I just don't understand because it obviously didn't clip when it was recording because if i start playback just before it [like half a second before it], it doesn't clip. help?
 
Firstly, is the wave form showing your anywhere near clipping? If it is, you may well have a clipping problem.

Otherwise, it sounds to me like you've got a very similar problem to me....... See the thread entitled "Is more RAM all I need?" for some sort of explanation. If you have got problems, the thread may also help solve them.

It would help if you could also post your specs and operating system, version of Cubase etc.

The post is right below this one now, in this section of the forum. What your encountering is popping/clicking that occurs when your machine isn't set up quite right. There can be many causes and many solutions. Also, you can give "popping" or "clicks" a search on the site to pull up more threads about it.
