Clicking and popping

Yesterday I was recording with my mxl 4000. Perfect vocals. Now every 2 seconds theres a huge crackle and pop.... Im not sure if its the setting sim using in cool edit or the mic.. help please

Could be moisture from heavy breathing . . . try tossing it in a bag with desiccants (a good idea for storage in general).

Leave the mic powered up for a few hours to see if the noise changes or goes away altogether. If it goes away, it's moisture on the capsule. If it doesn't and/or changes in some way, a component is going or has gone south.

I agree with both. I just keep mine stored with dessicant bags.
