The best way for clearer vocals is to use your ears then start with mic placement..

^^^^^ NO your ears period.

Your ears chooses a decent mic, decent pre, decent position, decent placement, decent mix and so forth and so on.

that and how to mix. A lot of what comes out of a studio session isn't quite up to par with what happens at the end of say a mastering session, or a simple mix down, with added effects.

Trump, I've been busy within' the past 2 days lol, I'll reply with a thorough explanation to help you on effects & mixing it down

word

Here's something quick im working on.

Im putting together a project using budget gear. Im using the senheiser e835 and the stock mackie 1202 vlz pro pre-amps. It was tracked in inside a bedroom, no booth no padding. I have a small delay and S.I.R reverb running via an aux buss. For eq i used the mackie eq's to get the effect i wanted going in. I played the whole play it by ear method!

Sounds good Killah, I think some of your other stuff sounds better but don't get me wrong it sounds damn good.

naw its cool, just the era of mixing i try too grasp is early 90's when shit wasnt so prostetic. So I move down to some lower ended gear to try to put together a real underground basement sounding arrangement.

Personally I would like to see both!

I have sat in on a couple of different tracking sessions, but it was in big studios and everything was moving so fast. Plus the studio I am referring too had many different people doing different things so it was a zoo. I never witnessed a profeesional mixing session!

I would like too see and understand why you are doing what you are doing. My ears are sharp, so I shouldn't have a problem picking up things. I just need to know what I am listening for and what techniques is best to correct it.
